Continuing Ed. at RCHS
Rappahannock County High School announces Adult Education classes starting in February. Two 30-hour classes, Applications of Microcomputers and Welding will be taught on Monday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Classes will begin on Feb. 26 and continue through May 7. Tuition for each class is $39. Please contact the school between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to preregister. Enrollment is limited.
Pre-school film series
The Rappahannock County Library will sponsor-a pre-school film series starting March 7 through March 28 on Wednesdays only at 10 a.m. For more information call the Library at 675-3780.
Woman's Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bonnie Williams near Flint Hill. All members are urged to attend.
Basketry at Middle St.
The following art classes with Cathy Dancing Reed will be held at Middle Street Gallery in Washington. “The Art of the Vine” is scheduled for Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a basketry class for women; the cost is $45 per student (bring a lunch). “Art from Nature for Young People” will be held Mondays after school from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 26. It will teach basketry craft and creative use of natural objects. The cost is $25 per student. All materials for these classes will be provided by the artist. “The Medicine Wheel”, will be held Sunday /Ffeb. 25 and Tuesday, March 20, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fee is $20 per student. Kiser's talk rescheduled
On Friday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Gay Street Theater, John W. Kiser III, author of the recently published Communist Entrepreneurs, Unknown Innovators in the Global Economy, will speak on “The Opening of the Eastern Block-Socialism in Disintegration or Renewal?” Mr. Kiser will have recently returned from three weeks in Czechslovakia and the U.S.S.R. This talk and following discussion is free and open to the public, sponsored by RAAC and the Rappahannock County Public Library.
Cancer Society meeting
There will be an organizational meeting for anyone interested in establishing a local chapter of the American Cancer Society. It will be held March 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse in Washington. For more information, call Sandra Varney, collect, (703) 347-2924 (before 1:30 p.m.)
Business Council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Sunday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at The Woodsmoke Cafe. All members and interested business persons are urged to attend.
Pancake breakfast
The Chosen Generation Youth Groups of Family Worship Center will have an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 3 from 8-11 a.m. “Bring your family”, said an organizer. There will be no charge, however donations would be appreciated. For more information call 987-9351 or 987-8014.
Benefit auction for SVFD
