Deadline nears
to file candidacy
for town election

With the filing deadline only two weeks away, Washington’s Mayor Dean Morehouse is alone in declaring his intention to run for re-election.
Declarations of candidacy must be filqd by 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Diane Bruce. The town election will be held May 1.
Councilman Reinhardt Lynch, who was appointed last year to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Nan Thomasson, did not return several telephone calls asking about his intentions. However, on Monday his business partner, Patrick O’Connell, said that as far as he knows Mr. Lynch plans to run for election to the council but his declaration has not yet been filed in Ms. Bruce’s office.
Councilwoman Evelyn Willis has announced that she will not run for election to a third term. “It’s nice to have a change of faces, with different people representing the town,” Mrs. Willis said of her decision. “It has nothing
