The mirror is a satellite dish antenna modified by coating it with a laminated reflective surface, which was done by eighth-graders Chris Diggs, Jason Waters, Theresa Hudson and Jason Hammond. In another science unit, Mr. Von Fange’s classes will turn the dish into a super-sensitive “ear,” using the parabolic reflector to focus sound waves onto a microphone. The dish was donated by Bernard Chesshir, principal at RCES.
