Frederick Schaefer

Mr. Frederick William Schaefer, 74, of Sperryville, died Feb. 18, at the University of Virginia Hospital.

Mr. Schaefer was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Edna Schaefer of Sperryville; one son, Frederick C. Schaefer of Sperryville; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas C. Palmer of Warrenton, Mrs. Francis Updike of Culpeper; three grandchildren, Suzanne Updike, T.C. Palmer III, Eric Jacobs; and two sisters, Mrs. B.M. Varner of Sperryville, Mrs. Maurice Manuel of Brownston.

His parents were the late Christian and Nancy Clarke Schaefer.

A funeral service was held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jennings Hobson III officiating. Interment was in the Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, Woodville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church or Sperryville Rescue Squad.

Mrs. Annie Singleton Hitt, 80, of Rixeyville, died February 14 at the Physicians Hospital in LaPlata, Md.
