are high in sodium. You will often see the words “lean”, “lite” and similar terms used to designate beef and pork that have less trimmable fat (fat surrounding the meat) and sometimtes, less marbling.
These labels are also seen on processed meats and other foods. While these terms generally refer, to foods containing less fat, they can be confusing. Light may also mean light color, as in vegetable oil, or fewer calories, as in drinks. Such products are not necessarily low in fat.
