Eligible residents are encouraged to participate. Anyone picking up items for someone else should bring a signed note authorizing the pick up. Crop reports due
County farmers are reminded that their annual crop reports are due if they are participating in Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service programs, according to ASCS Director Linda Henry. Crop reporting must be done before participating farmers can receive deficiency payments, price support loans or any other ASCS payments. Those who are enrolled in the acreage reduction programs are required to report crops and acreage planted, crop usage, acreage devoted to the cropland reserve and the acres diverted for payment. Acreage reports may be filed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the ASCS office on Gay St. in Washington. Small grain reports are due by June 15, July 16 for all other reports.
