The blue heron with his mighty wings and crooked neck has arrived on the scene in search of frogs and snakes along the pond’s shores.
Vacation Bible School begins Monday, June 18 at Amissville Baptist Church. All the children in the community are welcome. The times are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

United Methodist Women enjoyed lunch at Graves Mountain Lodge on Wednesday, June 13. Next Wednesday is their weekly Craft Day, beginning at 9 a.m. with lunch following.
Area Homemakers Clubs will meet Thursday evening, June 14 for an International Dinner. It will be held at the First Baptist Church in Washington beginning at 6:30 p.m. The theme is South America and Mexico.
A Health and Fitness Camp is set for August 12-16. Cost is $125 if postmarked by June 15, later it will be $140. Call 675-3619 for details.
An old fashioned fair will be held Saturday, June 16, from 12 to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 17, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Culpeper Ag Enterprises on Rt. 29 South. Cost is $1; children under 6 are fee. This is a fundraiser for the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show.
Congratulations to Wayne Dodson who was voted in as Lieutenant at the monthly meeting of Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He replaces David Mil bourne who resigned.
The Auxiliary donated $2,000 to the Department to help pay for pager conversions.
Make plans to attend the annual firemens carnival June 27-30. The parade begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 28; crowning of the queen and her court will be at 8 p.m. Friday night; cash prize drawings will be held on Saturday night. Many new games have been added this year. It will be great fun for the entire family.
Parade entries may be phoned to Sheila or Sharon Scott at 937-4357. Many excellent entries have registered this year. The Department is expecting this year to be their best.
