An article in the “Travel” section of the June 3, Washington Post, by Richard Wightman expressed so very well the sentiment of hundreds of people in Rappahannock County regarding the existence of and expansion of the Inn at Little Washington.
The article concerns a village in the Austrain Tyrol called Vent; I quote from it: “For many years, Vent has possessed a single chairlift that whisks winter skiers up the slope of the Wildspitze. But higher up the valley, across the Italian frontier, there is year-round glacier skiing, and ski entrepreneurs a decade ago wanted to build a road connecting Vent with the lucrative snow fields. It would have meant money in the bank, but it would have destroyed the fragile ecology; when the vote was taken, it was an overwhelming veto.
