U.S. Sen. John W. Warner, R-VA, said a Senate subcommittee will hold a hearing, at his request, “using Avtex as an example of a situation where few people know about what’s going on behind the closed plant doors.”

Warner was instrumental in the 1988 federal bail out when it appeared that the the government would lose the only source of carbonized rayon.

The subcommittee on toxic substances and environmental research is scheduled to hold a hearing on Avtex Wednesday, June 20 to determine the adequacy of federal laws intended to protect the environment and public health and safety.
