Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr.
will speak about “Peru” on Friday evening, June 26, 1970, at 8 p.m. at the Rappahannock Library, on Gay Street in Washington. Mrs. Davis was in Peru in February of this year, and her special interest is the ancient city of Machu Picchu, its history and architecture, its earthwork and stonework.
Patrolman of the Year-Jay Alther, a seventh grade student at Rappahannock County Elementary School, was chosen Patrolman of the Year for the 1969-70 school session. According to school officials, Jay not only did his assigned work well but volunteered to do extra work which was greatly appreciated. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Alther of Washington.

Charles Moore has been assigned
to Rappahannock County as a trooper with the Virginia Department of State Police. His assignment followed the retirement June 1 of W.A. Buntin. Moore is a native of Winchester, Frederick County, but came here from Prince William where he has been an officer for a year. He is 23 and single.
Mr. and Mrs. William Carrigan will again provide a Fourth of July fireworks display on the grounds of their home Avon Hall
