smile, adding he hopes for a rural area as Rappahannock County has been his home since he was two years old; and he hopes for a family with brothers and sisters as he was accustom to siblings. “I think you can adjust easier and learn cultural aspects if you have family,” he said, adding his parents and two older brothers and two older sisters support his desire to study abroad but have admitted they will miss him while he’s gone.
With hesitation at bay, Woodard feels only excitement toward his trip. “I feel there is nothing greater than to live and study in another country and learn another culture,” he said with anticipation, admitting one year is long time to be away from his family but he feels he is “prepared.”
The son of Burrel and Reba Woodard of Flint Hill, Tony said his Rappahannock County High School business teacher Patty Clark knew of his desire to study abroad and told him of the exchange. “I’ve always been very interested in the exchange students we have at Rappahannock,” Tony said, adding this year’s German exchange student Uli Kleingam has helped him with his new language — German.
