Hospice of the Rapidan’s programs maintain dying patients in their homes free of pain and full of dignity while supporting family members who must continue living.

“Working Through Grief’ is Hospice’s six week program to assist the grieving with the bereavement process.

Tina Hackney Weaver, Hospice’s executive director, said of the series, “Through this six week process, we have seen people transformed. Marge Hall, bereavement specialist, gives participants tools to understand this process of shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance.”

Grief is a natural reaction to a significant loss. It is characterized by feelings of sadness, loneliness and fatigue. These may last from several months to several years.

Many grieving people need to know that they are not alone and that others are having similar experiences. It is not unique for the bereaved to continue setting an extra place at the table. A widower may
