On May 9, the House passed by a 322-93 vote the conference report on H.R. 2364, the Amtrak Reauthorization bill. In the Senate the same measure passed by voice vote. Later in May, President George Bush decided to oppose the bill for reasons unrelated to the Virginia commuter rail project.
