John McCutcheon will be appearing as part of the Bluemont Concert Series 1990 Sunday Courthouse Concerts on Sunday, July 29 at 7 p.m.
John McCutcheon is truly one of the great performers of American traditional music. A masterful storyteller, songwriter and singer, John McCutcheon is also a virtuoso performer on the banjo, fiddle, guitar, autoharp, and hammered dulcimer. This will be an evening of incredible variety that the whole family will enjoy.
His music and tales weave a wonderful evening of humor and delight into some exceptional singing and musicianship. Always a favorite of Bluemont, McCutcheon’s performances produce a grass roots enthusiasm from audiences throughout the country, whether at big city halls or smaller country gatherings. He makes light of his own popularity, saying “I’ve become a rumor in my own time.”
The lawn of the historic Culpeper County Courthouse is a beautiful setting to hear a concert. People attending the concerts are encouraged to contribute $2 per persons towards the cost of the evening. There is plenty of parking available, and downtown streets are closed to vehicular traffic during the concert.
