Corvin told the boy he would have to “do it” or be put in detention. Corvin performed non-consentual fellatio on the boy and tried to force the boy to engage in anal intercourse with him, according to the discovery statement.
The boy reported the offenses after his arrest Oct. 22,1989.
At the sentencing hearing, Corvin’s counselor, Gary Rath well, testified that Corvin’s crimes were not sexually motivated and that he doesn’t consider the defendant to be a pedophile or homosexual.
“It’s not a compulsion for him,” said Rath well, who added that giving an opinion on the likelihood of a repeat occurrence would be “very difficult.”
Commonwealth’s Attorney Jonathan Lynn said that if such behavior isn’t a compulsion, that gives all the more reason to impose the jury’s' recommended sentence.
“It would make it easier to un-; derstand if that was the case — if it; was an urge he could not control,” Lynn said.
Rathwell described Corvin as victim of sexual abuse in his early years who now is socially isolated from other adults. Moving around during his military career made Corvin cautious in forming relationships, Rathwell said.
Corvin’s stepfather and a friend testified that they would trust him around young children in their household.
