One-half of the local hospice patients are referred by their doctor, discharge planners at hospital’s, or social workers. The remaining patients are admitted after direct calls from family members or friends.

Each person’s individual situation determines whether hospice is the right choice. Hospice staff assesses the appropriateness of hospice care or whether some y other kind of care is more advisable.
