When the 4-H Teen Adventure Team goes canoeing, they have a couple of county residents to thank.
The team just acquired a trailer to haul eight canoes used for its overnight expeditions on area riv-. ers.
The trailer, according to Agricultural Extension Agent and Adventure Team sponsor Tommy Williams, was purchased through a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
The work to transform it into a canoe trailer, however, was donated by Woodville welder Tim Falls. Rappahannock County Health Department Sanitarian Jack Lockhart assisted with the design of the racks, and Mr. Falls spent more than eight hours welding the steel beams to support the canoes, Mr. Williams said.
“He really did a nice job,” the Extension agent said of Mr. Falls’s contribution. “It handled those canoes like a piece of cake,” he added, after the team tried out the new trailer on an overnight tripen the Rappahannock and Rapidan rivers earlier this month.
