Included in this service is his unselfish commitment also to make this program one of the best in the state. Both is coaching and 17 years of active work in scouting have provided leadership and guidance to our youth. He too has been an example for each child to I emulate.

Sameul H. Smith Sr., Hume: Mr. Smith has served as president and vice-president of the Linden Ruritan Club. He has been a Ruritan ' for seven years. He has dedicated his life to serving others; has provided partial funding for a kidney 1 transplant for a local resident; has 1 given humbly and unselfishly to improve the quality of life for others through his donation of funds, time and material to individuals, churches ' and other organizations.
He sponsors an African child ■ through the Christian Children’s • Fund. He has shown great compassion by visiting the sick, elderly and indigent persons, providing food, ' money, firewood and materials for , needed repairs. He provides trans-; portation to those needing medical ■ services. As a successful businessman and part-time farmer, he willingly provides advice to help others to be able to own property and build ' their own home. He has been an ac- ’ tive church member, serving as a ' Sunday School teacher and fundraiser.
