Supervisor Chairman Hubert Gilkey said, “You could put a retaining wall there and come back later and ask for a sign. ”
Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes said, “I find it hard to leave the 20 square foot standard. I think there are ways you could do this with a 20 square foot sign.”
“Here’s another twist,” Mr. Massie suggested. “There are a number of businesses in the county that are involved with tourists. If you start in Amissville with signs like this, you’ll lose the tourist business.”
