Handmade Christmas show
A handmade Christmas craft show will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Raymond and Santmyers Youth Center in Front Royal. The public is invited to share refreshments, decorating ideas and holiday gift shopping. Door prizes will be given away hourly. For more information call 636-6606.
Lions hosting pecan sales
The Rappahannock Lions Club is holding its annual nut sales. Available are pecans, $5.50 pound; mixed nuts (no peanuts), $6 pound and honey roasted peanuts (12 ounces) $3. Contact Roger Welch, chairman at 675-3686 or any Rappahannock Lions Club members.
EMT and refresher class

All-you-can eat breakfast
Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be having an all-youcan eat breakfast with Santa and a bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 7 to 11 a.m. The menu will consist of pancakes, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, eggs, fried apples, hash browns, with orange juice, milk, coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate. Santa will be present to talk to the children and Christmas baked goods will be sold.
Help for abusers, victims
Services for Abused Families Inc. of Culpeper sponsors weekly support groups for abusers and the victims of domestic violence. A group for women with relationship problems meets each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and a similar group for men with problems including anger and violence meets each Monday at 6:30 p.m. The location of these meetings is confidential. For more information, call SAFE (825-8876 or 349-0309). Individual counseling is also available; there is no charge for these services.
Gun tickets available
The Chester Gap Fire Department is sponsoring a gun lottery. The ticket price is $30 and will be good for one year and you could win a gun a week for 52 weeks. There will only be 1,000 tickets. For more information call 635-4673 or 636-3279, anytime, 635-8305 after 6 p.m. or 635-5472 after 5 p.m.
Christmas bazaar Dec. 8
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the 8th Annual Christmas Crafters Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Precious Blood Catholic Church, 401 N. Main Street in Culpeper. The bazaar will feature many local crafters offering a variety of Christmas and country items including a large selection of Christmas decorations. There will also be folk art, tole painting & other decorative paintings, decopage, needlecraft, hats and fans with flowers, plus handmade-dolls, bears and many wooden toys. In addition, the Catholic Women’s Council will have fresh baked goods and grab bag items for sale.
AA meetings at Trinity
An Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
Middle Street art classes
Tanya Richey offers a Watercolor Power class each Thursday from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Windflower Gallery. The class will explore new techniques in watercolor painting. The fee is $45 for members, $55 for non-members for five classes. For information, call 6751113.
