Soccer goals:
a group effort
To the Editor:
If you have happened to glance down toward Rappahannock Elementary School as you drive past it on U.S. 211, you can’t help but notice the beautiful new soccer goals on the soccer fields. Even though it may seem as if these goals just appeared—they didn’t! It was the combined efforts of many people that made these new goals a reality.
Kirk Davis donated the solid oak boards, Boozie Dodson found us a welder and Craig Wilson was that welder. Mountain View Construction gave the brackets for all four goals, Steve Guza made sure we got the best wholesale price on the pipe and an anonymous donor gave use the money to buy that pipe.
Once the goals were ready for assembly Richard Price, Peggy and Allan Banker, Les Nichols, Rob Parrish, Bobby Watson and Bill Artiglia from Richmond showed up and worked very hard putting them together.
Susan and Tom Rust then had the incredibly difficult job of putting the nets on the new goals. Jon Heddleston gave generously of his time to be at the school whenever necessary as a sponsor for us. Tim Kerr and his sons Andrew and Adam have kept the fields and the lines in great
