The weekend of Oct. 19-20 will see the 35th annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried Flower Sale in historic Washington, Va.
The popular fall event, sponsored by the Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish, has drawn visitors not only from Virginia but many other parts of the country to spend a day in our lovely countryside, tour homes of architectural and historic interest and to take home with them some of the hundreds of dried flower arrangements offered for sale. As in the past, headquarters for the event will be the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
Three homes will be open during the period from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Block tickets will be on sale at $10 for three houses and tea and $3.50 for an individual house. They may be had at the headquarters or at the tour houses. Box lunches will be available at the Parish Hall from the ladies of Washington First Baptist Church.
The second of the three houses on tour is Pleasant View in Harris Hollow, 2.5 miles northwest of Washington off Route 622. It is the home of Jim and Beth DeBergh and their two sons.
The original log home was built by the Harris family, which gave the hollow its name. The current residents are the seventh generation of the Harris line to
