gardening
in new club
The Rappahannock County Garden Club (RCGC) has organized a 4H Junior Garden Club.
At the organizational meeting in August, nine girls, ages 9-11, met at the home of Mrs. H.W. Peterson (a RCGC member), where they enjoyed a pool party and picnic lunch.
After lunch Mrs. Peterson gave the girls a tour of her lovely perennial garden. They collected some flowers which they pressed using blotting paper and heavy books.
On Sept. 25 the Juniors—plus two new members—used the pressed flowers to make glassdomed paperweights. Each girl made a small design on velvet which was glued under the glass dome. The 4-H Junior Garden Club will meet monthly on the fourth Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. under the leadership of Susan Rust and Helen Smith.
The club is co-sponsored by the Rappahannock Extension Office and the Rappahannock Garden Club.
