“I’m not asking you to do anything,” Mr. Dennis told the supervisors. “The Equalization Board ought to take a look at that. One answer would be to adopt the open space category for land use. Then property subject to an easement would automatically qualify for use value taxation.”
Currently the county has use value taxation for agricultural, horticultural and forestal land, but not for open space.
County treasurer
is certified
Frances A. Foster, Rappahannock Treasurer, has been awarded the title Certified Governmental Treasurer under a program administered by the University of Virginia’s Center for Public Service and Division of Continuing Education.
The program, which takes a minimum of three years to complete, requires a combination of extensive education and governmental experience.
The education process does not, however, end with the completion of the program.
Every four years after initial certification, the recipient must complete an additional 60 hours of continuing education in order to remain certified.
