Jessie Jenkins
Jessie Smith Jenkins, 64, of Culpeper, died Friday, Oct. 4 at the University of Virginia Hospital.
He was bom Nov. 3, 1926, in Rappahannock County.
His parents were the late Cooper Ashby Jenkins and Bessie Hampton Jenkins.
He was the former owner and operator of the Diamond Cab Company in Fredericksburg. He was also a retired race horse jockey and a life member of the Fredericksburg Moose Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Anthony A. Jenkins of Fredericksburg; one step-son, William T. Timmons of Gordonsville; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Jenkins Apperson of Orange; three brothers, John W. Jenkins, Irvin G. Jenkins and George E. Jenkins, all of Culpeper; six sisters, Mrs. Dolly J. Fincham, Mrs. Virginia J. Winn, Mrs. Florine J. Hitt and Mrs. Anna J. Covington, all of Culpeper, Mrs. Mary Frances J. Tovar of Florence, Ariz. and Mrs. Ethel (Peggy) J. Wayland of Fredericksburg; two grandchildren, Christopher David Apperson and Zachary Jacob Apperson, both of Orange; and two step-grandchildren, Lisa Lynn Timmons of Orange and William Logan Timmons of Gordonsville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ashby Cooper Jenkins.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 7 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with the Rev. Albert M. Buza officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
