RAA. The RAA ended up getting all of the $2,000 appropriation. This year the appropriation was left out of the budget.
At the September meeting Col. Bingham suggested that the county again appropriate- $2,000 to RAA. Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes requested the board delay acting on the reque 't until he had a chance to talk with representatives of the soccer league.
At the October meeting Lorraine Early, treasurer of the RAA, and Vinnie Carney, commissioner of the soccer league, were both present.
Mr. Estes suggested that the board allocate funds between the two organizations according to the number of county children participating in each program.
Mrs. Early said there were 250 children involved with RAA baseball teams. Mrs. Carney said 150 children were registered with the soccer league. The oldest soccer players are in eighth grade, she said since ninth graders are eligible for the high school team.
