lie hearing with the Planning Commission at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 22 to consider the revised Comprehensive Plan. At that time they will take final action on the budget.
The council voted to apply for a grant to do a “feasibility study” on developing a sewer system. Mr. Fisher said the study would not cost anything and would help to determine whether the town can afford sewage treatment.
“Don’t you know the answer?” member Newbill Miller asked.
Mr. Fisher answered that he did not know how long the town would be allowed to continue without a sewer system.
The motion to apply for the grant passed 6 to 1 with Mr. Miller voting “No.”
At Wednesday’s meeting the council also heard a recommendation by Charles Eldred that they consider a light supplied by Trimble House for street lighting. The proposal by the company said the fixtures would cost no more than $550 each. He said these fixtures are like the original street lights placed in rural towns. Four similar fixtures are still in town, he said. The new lights would use high pressure sodium rather than incandescent bulbs.
