Two young girls have been charged with making a telephone bomb threat at Rappahannock County High School June 8, according to Sheriff John Henry Woodward.
He said the two girls, age 15 and 16, were charged last Thursday in connection with the threatening call, which emptied the school just before exams were scheduled to begin and delayed their start. A search of the building revealed no bomb, the sheriff said.
Making a threat to bomb, burn or destroy lives or property is a felony, Sheriff Woodward said, punishable by a jail term.
In other police matters last week:
• six people were injured when a westbound vehicle failed to observe the new traffic pattern at the U.S. 211 construction area, according to Virginia State Trooper C. A. Moore.
Moore said David Uhlman, 34, of Springfield, was westbound in a 1986 BMW when he entered the construction zone just west of U.S. 211 Business. When the road changed from four lanes to two, Uhlman continued west what had become the eastbound lane.
