John Schmitz came to the Washington Town Council meeting last Wednesday to complain about the location of the recycling center behind the fire hall, which is near his driveway.
He had intended to ask the town to at least screen it from his view, but after listening to council members struggle with ways to cut the budget, he said he didn’t want the town to spend any money on it.
Mr. Schmitz said he had enjoyed attending the council meeting. “It was a change of pace from the NBA basketball tournament,” he added. He said he only wanted to ask for “understanding and respect for a residential neighbor.”
He said his house is shaped like a bam, and perhaps people don’t know it is a home. It is right behind the fire hall and recycling center. He said the fire hall was there when he bought the land, and he didn’t mind that. His grandchildren epjoy the fire trucks, he added.
