eastbound 1987 Pontiac, driven by Kirk McLaren, 22, of Washington, D.C., swerved into the westbound lane in an attempt to avoid Uhlman, who swerved back into his own lane at the last moment and hit Mclaren head-on.
Moore charged Uhlman with reckless driving. Uhlman and a passenger in his car were injured, as was McLaren and two passengers in his car. No reports on their condition were available Tuesday evening. Both cars were destroyed, Moore added.
• Russell Beatty, 18, of Front Royal, was charged with reckless driving after an accident June 10.
Trooper Moore reported that Paul Nichols, 65, of Flint Hill, was eastbound in a 1992 Plymouth van when he stopped the van, one-half mile west of Route 626. Moore said he apparently suffered some type of blackout.
Beatty was also eastbound behind Nichols’ van, and when Nichols stopped, Beatty was unable to stop his 1983 Chevrolet, and ran into the back of Nichols’ van.
Beatty was injured, Moore said. He estimated $800 damage to Beatty’s car, and about $200 damage to Nichols’ van.
