With its original production of “Elegant Men, Beautiful Women and a few regrettable horse thieves,” Interact Theatre Company takes an irreverent and tuneful journey through 250 years of life in Northern Virginia, Saturday, June 20 at The Theatre at Washington, Va.
Through quick fignettes, curious songs and dances, letters and journals you meet many vivid characters who made Northern Virginia what it is today.
“Elegant Men” highlights such milestones as daily life in the 1800s, the wintering of the elephants by Hachaliah Bailey (Bamum and Bailey Circus) at what is now Seven Comers, the amazing capture of General Stoughton by John Singleton Moxby, and the love between the spy, Antonia Ford, and Joseph Willard during the Civil War — and the demise of Sadie, the famous champion cow of Fairfax.
