her first choice would be to have a bar code reader and software for computerized check-out. A $23,000 grant from the State Library is covering the cost of the computerized catalogue, but not the automated check-in and check-out.
She said that the computerized catalogue would be useful to the state, but not as helpful to the librarians and library users without the automated check-out. She estimated the software and bar code reader could be purchased for less than $3,IKK).
Library Board member Mary Jamieson asked if “a disproportionate amount” of the library’s resources weren’t going into computerization? She said there were other needs at the library.
The board members then voted unanimously to ask the Friends for the automated circulation system.
