Ki Theatre will host a concert of new songs and instrumentals from Trapezoid’s Paul Reisler and Martha Sandefer at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 7.
Reisler, who plays guitar, hammered dulcimer, and bass, writes most of the material they perform. He has toured nationally and internationally for the last 18 years as well as with Ki Theatre.
Sandefer is a powerful and emotional singer who also plays guitar and bass. As a professional studio singer she has recorded with artists such as John McCutcheon, Peter Kater and Paul Winter Consort member Jim Scott.
Her most recent solo album, “The Dream is Still Alive,” features her original songs.
In addition to their performing and recording with Trapezoid, Reisler and Sandefer have started touring as a duo. This grew out of their desire to work in more intimate settings rather than the larger concert halls that usually present Trapezoid concerts.
“We want to make music that moves people. For us, a duo format allows the most direct emotional connection we can make with our audience. The song and it’s message are our primary focus,” says Sand. efer. ■"v
This new music which the duo will feature in their concert is inspired by life in rural America. Reisler was commissioned to write a theme for a 13-part PBS-TV series
