No other steeplechase race meeting in the country has been televised more consistently or more comprehensively than the Virginia Gold Cup.
This is the fourth year a 90minute television special will be produced by the Gold Cup with Home Team Sports (HTS), an affiliate of SportsCom/Prime Network.
This year HTS will use a record number of cameras — eight — and the largest production crew to date to cover the 68th running of the Virginia Gold Cup, presented by BMW.
The 90-minute telecast, broadcast live to 2.5 million homes in the Mid-Atlantic region alone, gets underway at 3:30 p.m. May 1. Post time for the feature race, the Virginia Gold Cup, a classic timber race, is 3:55 p.m.
HTS will also provide a satellite feed to Winner Communications, producers of ESPN’s Kentucky Derby Special, for live coverage of the Gold Cup race during that show.
The Gold Cup Special will be distributed across the country to more than 28 million homes via HTS’s affiliation with SportsCom/Prime Network, a national sports programmer.
