Earlier in the meeting set by the Board of Supervisors to receive public input on the school budget, Dr. Gangel had gone over the increases to the budget noting that most of the increases were required by law or were the result of the early costs for an addition to the elementary school.
School Board Chairman Beverly Massie said that the school system has been subject to unexpected increased costs for special education and maintenance.
She noted that both school buildings are reaching an age when maintenance needs increase.
