“Sexual harassment can impact negatively on students,” leading to low self esteem, Mr. Toth said. “The courts have reacted decisively. Students need to learn to respect each person as an individual. The response that ‘boys will be boys and girls will be girls, is no longer acceptable.”
School Board Chairman Beverly Massie suggested that some students might prefer to report cases of sexual harassment to guidance counselors rather than the principal’s office. She also** suggested that the discipline committee be given guidelines for dealing with sexual harassment cases.
