Third grade scores wei ' below the national average in the composite score and in all separate tests given except language. First and second graders scored below the national average in reading comprehension, and first graders were also below the national average in work study. All other scores were above the national average.

The School Board also received results for these tests for the past six years for most grades and for the past five years for ninth and tenth grades. With those scores it is possible to see how the school system has done over time.

Taking just the composite score this is the highest for the six-year period for the first grade but the lowest for the second, third and fifth grades. Fourth graders scored slightly below their six-year average. Eighth and eleventh grade composite scores were about average for the six-year period this year, and ninth and tenth grade scores were the highest for the five-year period. Sixth and seventh grade composite scores were somewhat above the six year average.

School Superintendent David Gangel said that the central office has results for the past 20 years for fourth, eighth and eleventh grades and that those statistics show a steady improvement over time.
