traying people, they say. With only three boys and 13 girls they agree finding a play would be difficult, but Amy Hathaway said, “I’d would prefer to play a guy than an animal.”
Ms. Wyrrick said she considered several plays. She wanted one that would include music without trying to put on a traditional musical comedy on the tiny Ki Theatre stage. She said she hopes the teens learn that there is an advantage to portraying animals. With an audience distancing itself from the animal characters the players can more powerfully present the play’s message, “almost like a fable,” she said.
A lot is being packed into the three-week program. The teenagers are eryoying most of it and especially being together. The group includes students from public and private schools from Rappahannock and Fauquier counties. “One of the best parts is working with these people,” Mia Grisham said.
