NOTICE OF GENERAL RATE INCREASE
The Potomac Edison Company has applied to the State Corporation Commission to increase its rates and charges. The revised rates and charges would produce approximately S9.97 million in additional annual revenue. Potomac Edison also proposes changes in its terms and conditions for service.
The Commission has ordered an investigation of the application. The date the revised rates, charges, terms, and conditions take effect has been suspended through September 27. 1993. Potomac Edison may put the rates into effect after that date, pursuant to Commission order and subject to refund.
The Commission has scheduled a hearing to begin at 10:00 a.m. on December 7. 1993. in the Commission s Courtroom. Second Floor. Tyler Building. 1300 East Main Street. Richmond. Virginia, to receive evidence on the application. Based upon the evidence presented, the Commission may fix rates and charges for service and establish terms and conditions that differ from Potomac Edison's proposed rates, charges, terms, and conditions. A copy of Potomac Edison's application and accompanying materials are available for public inspection during regular business hours at all offices in Virginia where bills may be paid. A copy of the application is also available for inspection Monday through Friday. 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. at the Commission's Document Control Center. First Floor. Any person desiring to make a statement at the public hearing, either for or against the application, need only appear in the Commission's Courtroom at 9:45 a.m. on the day of the hearing and identify himself to the Commission's bailiff. On or before August 24. 1993, any person who expects to submit evidence, cross-examine witnesses, or otherwise participate in this proceeding as a protestant. pursuant to Rule 4:6 of the Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure, shall file an original and fifteen (15) copies of a notice of protest with the Clerk, State Corporation Commission, c/o Document Control Center. Maryland 21740-1766. Any corporate entity or government unit that wishes to protest must be represented by legal counsel as required by Rule 4:8 of the Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure.
On or before November 2, 1993, all protestants shall file with the Clerk of the Commission an original and fifteen (15) copies of a protest and an original and fifteen (15) copies of the testimony and exhibits they expect to offer and shall serve a copy of the protest, testimony, and exhibits on Potomac Edison's counsel and on all other parties.
