Cub Scout Day Camp for Shenandoah, Rappahannock. Page, and Warren Counties took place from July 12-16 at Randolph Macon Academy in Front Roayl with 94 yourrgsters in attendance.
The Day Camp Director, Mrs. Ann Hall, coordinated the intense week long program with the help of 26 other adult volunteers. The theme of this years Day Camp was “Mother Nature’s Backyard” with the program centering around nature crafts and talks on the deer and snakes in Virginia.
The Scouts built a variety of crafts including, a squirrel feeder, bird feeder, bird house and neckerchief slide. They participated in a nature hike, toured Skyland Caverns and went for a swim in the town pool. Camp ended Friday evening with a family picnic and awards ceremony attended by over 260 people at the Front Royal VFW Post.
Scouting would like to thank Randolph Macon Academy for their continued support to Scouting, the Skyland Caverns, the VFW, Lowes of Winchester, Glaize Builders of Winchester, Arthur Drako of Front Royal Karate School, Mr. Harold Fisher of the Virginia Department of Game and Fisheries and the Town of Front Royal for their generous contributions which kept the cost of our day camp down while the program quality remained one of the best anywhere.
