We appreciate your prayers also for Mickey and Carrington Smith’s mother, Mrs. Edith Smith Phillips. She suffered a heart attack on Monday and is in Warren County Memorial Hospital.
The community was pleased to see Mrs. Mickey Stuart on Sunday. She attended worhsip services at her home church, Amissville United Methodist. She was thrilled to see so many dear friends. Mrs. Stuart said she thoroughly enjoyed the message brought by the new pastor, Rev. Nancy White. She was especially grateful for her friends, Mr. and Mrs. Frank White, for taking her to church. The Whites also live in the Baptist Retirement Communtiy in Culpeper.
Hope you saw the article and photo of Ron Makela of Hackley’s Store on the front page of Saturday Culpeper Star Exponent. Ron was holding one of the last few 6.5-ounce returnable bottles of Coca-Cola left at their store. Many believe it’s more than nostalgia, that the coke really does taste better the thick glass returnable bottles. Co-owner Jan Makela said Hackley’s had always tried to- keep the old general store atmosphere and that it was the end of an era.
