Block Party Planned
The First Baptist Church Usher’s Board will have a block party at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 on Piedmont Avenue at the home of Julia Boddie and Mary Groves. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, desserts, cold sliced watermelon and lots of cold drinks for sale. The public is invited to join us and make this a fun party,” said an organizer.
Diabetes Support Group Meeting
The Warrenton Parents of Children with Diabetes support group will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 in the Fauquier Hospital board room. For more information call Kathy Evans at 349-2961.
Orange County Fair
Come celebrate rural life at the 20th annual Orange County Fair, July 23-25, at historic Montpelier, home of president James Madison, on Route 20 in Orange County.
The three-day fair will be jam-packed with live, foot-stomping country and bluegrass music; horse, pony and mules races and shows; a draft horse and mule pull; clogging; Jack Russell Terrier Races; clowns; face painting; finger-printing; free challenge events; pet shows; 4-H livestock shows, a cow-milking contest, and the every-popular cow-patti bingo!
Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children under 12. Food, crafts, exhibits, tours of the Montpelier mansion and much, much more. For more information, call 854-5811.
SHARE Delivery Day
The July Delivery Day for SHARE is from 10 a.m.-ll a.m. on Saturday, July 24 at the Washington Baptist Church. All participants should pick up their groceries at this time.
A donation of not more than $1 will be appreciated on Delivery Day to defer the cost of gas for the two men who drive each month to pick up the groceries. Participants should also bring their community service vouchers and $15 in cash of food stamps to sign up for July.
Summer Program Continues
June Hughes guided the “Peer Amid Books... Read” participants on a delightful underwater visit with ocean free dolphins. On July 28 at 10 a.m., Josh-N-Collins and Friends will appear at the Rappahannock County Library. Come and meet Collins and leader and ventriloquist, Josh, Cletus the country boy, and Bud the Bear.
