another is a bird's eye view of a Prince William County cattle farm, its hedgerows symmetrically bisecting the fertile land. Summer lightening in Fauquier County creates a jagged mark against the sky; in another. Culpeper's Brandy Station battlefield spills back toward the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The photographs, all of which are featured in the book, celebrate the region’s primeval and cultivated beau ty, from Jefferson's Monticello outside Charlottesville to the Livestock Exchange in Fauquier ' County. Viewers are transported to another world — a world of freshly mowed hay, rushing river currents, and spectacular 18th and 19th century architecture. The works succeed in driving home the organizers’ concerns: create a vision that recognizes the historical significance of these sites and open spaces and plan a place for them in the future.
