By CINDY MAHAN l Rappahannock News Staff Writer | Larry Egbert Embrey, 44, of • Remington, who had been indicted ! earlier this year on charges of.breaking and entering and grand larceny, pled guilty last week to grand larceny.
In a plea agreement with the commonwealth, Mr. Embrey's breaking and enlering charge (which is a felony as is the grand larceny) was reduced to . trespassing on the property of Elmer Atkins with the intent to interfere with . the rights of the owner, a misdemeanor.
Mr. Embrey had been charged with taking several items from Mr. , Atkins’s property in Sperryville last April, including a baby cradle, two' piano stools and pottery. He will remain in jail until his Sentencing on Jan. 3.
David Wayne Gay, 36, of Madison, was in court for sentencing after having been convicted in September of unlawful entry. However, Mr. Gay’s probation officer, Lisa Murphy, told the court Mr. Gay had failed to show up for an appointment in October and that a letter she had sent to the address he had given her was returned.
Because Mr. Gay did not cooperate in helping his probation officer in preparing his pre-sentencing report.
