School Board Seat
The members of the School Board certainly had a challenging job Tuesday night when they had to choose from among four highly qualified candidates to fill the Wakefield District seat left vacant' by Paul Nichols's death.
Rosa Crocker has contributed significantly to the county school system as a volunteer. The programs provided at both schools through the Curriculum Enrichment Committee exist primarily because of her fundraising efforts and the time she spends arranging for them. She has also been involved with a steering committee working on creating a foundation to support public education inm Rappahannock. Now she has a chance to contribute as a member of th? board. Hopefully she will not have to drop all her important volunteer activities to do so.
Ellen Manson, Roger Welch and Charlotte Nichols would also have been fine additions to the board. Each could have offered a unique perspective, and Ms. Crocker should make the effort to benefit from their views.
Wakefield District showed what living in Rappahannock County is all about when four of its citizens were not only willing but eager to serve on the School Board and work for the benefit of the county's children.
