Another coffeewood tree incident made it onto the police log this week.
On Nov. 4, a call from Chester Gap informed the Sheriffs Office that some people were attempting to load a large coffeewood tree into a vehicle. By the time Major Rick MacWelch arrived on the scene, the thiefs had taken off, leaving the tree behind. A tag number was obtained front the vehicle, though, and the matter is under investigation.
