Reading favorites of Rappahannbck was held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3. The students chose a short story, passages from a book or acted out a character and storyline from a book. They performed on stage to a packed house. This was a fun nonfund raising event sponsored by the PTO which showcased 37 RCHS presenters. Thanks to Cabin Fever Books for their donations and Mrs. Nowakoski, Mr. Smith and Mr. Way for their help.
The Book Fair was a great success! Mrs. Massie and Mrs. Klatko send a big "thank you" to all for the community support.
The Curriculum Enrichment Program invited Paul Kengmo of Cameroon, Africa, to perform with his African music and dance. He has an assortment of hand-made drums and many other interesting instruments. He gave two performances to grades K-6 of dance and African music. Everyone enjoyed this show tremendously.
The next PTO meeting is at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The PTO Halloween Fun Fest held on Oct. 25 was great fun. Lots of ghosts and goblins came out for the party. This was a joint effort including parents, older students and the community. Thanks to Sheriff Settle and the deputies for attending the party.
Start saving your Safeway and Giant receipts. Boxes for collection are at the Rappahannock National Bank and the Rappahannock Public Library, and there is a box in the RCES main office. Also, save Campbell Soup labels for PE. equipment, school and library items.
The Million Pennies Campaign is an ongoing fundraiser for playground equipment. Just drop that unwanted change in jars that are available at Hackley's. Mountainside Market, Baldwin's or the Flint Hill Store. Over $200 has already been collected this year.
The Quilt Raffle raised over $800 for playground equipment.
Parents and the entire RCES staff bids a fond farewell and best wishes to Mel Paratore who has left RCES. We will miss her greatly.
