Guess what a local Internet provider is doing for your community? Summit Web Communications Corporation, a local Internet provider based in Culpeper County and serving Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties has placed its local calling area on the World Wide Web.
Gary Triplett, a Culpeper native with family roots dating back to the mid 1800s, is co-owner of Summit Communications. His idea to place the Piedmont area on the Internet came to fruition January of this year.
Michelle Brown, co-owner of Summit Communications has been instrumental in collecting the community information you see on the Internet. "I have collected information from the county governments, chambers of commerce, county tourism and economic development organizations, local newspapers, school systems, as well as from anyone interested in supplying the information," Mrs. Brown stated.
"We want to let everyone in the world know what a beautiful place 1 grew up in and what a nice place to visit," Mr. Triplett added. "There are so many wonderful resources and a great deal of history in these rolling' hills of the Piedmont Area. Tourism is a great source of revenue for any community, and if Summit Communications can ibring in tourism to our area, we would fell like we've accomplished our job," Mr. Triplett stated.
