David Gangel to make a report.
Sheriff Gary Settle and Capt. Jeff Brown made a presentation on a new program to acquaint students with laws that can affect them. It will be presented in eighth and eleventh grades and perhaps to seniors as well. The program will require two of the 90-minute class periods.
The board approved adding the program to the curriculum, noting the Sheriffs Office has provided solid programs to the schools and had a . good relationship with students.
The board also tentatively approved the senior clas9 trip to Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania and heard a report on the high school math curriculum and work with kindergarten and first graders to better prepare them for taking standardized tests.
Dr. Gangel reported that Quarles Petroleum will remove the fuel tanks for the buses over the summer and the board will have to consider an above ground tank for its next budget.
