Town future
plan praised

“I just want to offer words of praise and gratitude to the Town’s Future Committee,” said Washington resident Peter Kramer at last week’s meeting of the Tbwn Council.
He was praising the committee for their work on the report they made to council. “It’s a difficult thing to do ... but a process that has to take place. Surrounding areas can make decisions which affect you. It’s hard to imagine here and now but I have seen situations where it has happened,” he said.
Mr. Kramer said he’d like to see additional verbiage concerning the county’s relationship with the town and about creating a buffer around the town added to the report. “All you have to do is drive down the road,” to one of the surrounding counties to see what has happened with development there, he said. '
“The only way to protect against that is to try to have some kind of plan. I just want to say thanks for the effort,” he said.
Mr. Kramer spoke during the public forum section of the meeting. Prior to his remarks the council addressed its other issues.
Council member Charles Tompkins, chair for the Waste Water Study Committee, reported that the committee had met with the South East Rural Health Department which recommended proceeding with the health department surveys, and with an income survey as well for future funding purposes.
